On Saturday 28 September, we left home bound for Penrith to visit our friends Dani and Allan and their adorable kids Riley and Lachlan. They live in a new estate in Mulgoa, so we weren’t sure where we would put the van but soon enough got it all sorted out. Click on the photos to enlarge them.
We had such a good time and the kids got along so well. Dani cooked a lovely taco dinner for us Saturday night and Sunday we had a delicious bbq. We felt so welcome and have even been invited back for Christmas!!! Thanks for having us Dani and Al!!!
After we left Penrith, we went the long way around, via the Putty Road. We arrived at Talawahal Creek Rest Area, Possum Brush for our stop over about 4pm and set up for the night. We woke up in the morning surrounded by trucks!
We then headed off to Bowraville, or more correctly; South Arm. We stopped in at Port Macquarie to pick up the latest Camp 7 book and I got a new pair of Shimano camping shoes. Drove to Macksville where Wayne picked up some drinking water and then headed to Bowraville. The TomTom was pretty good with directions and we finally found Linda and Leith’s home settled in the hills. The kids had so much fun playing with the 4 Garad boys, there was so much to do and see. Baby rabbits, chickens, cats, cows, bats, turkeys (ugliest things I have ever seen!), finches, fish, a tortoise and Cane the Spoodle. Here are some photos from the 5 days we spent there. Thanks for having us guys, we will be back!!
For our last night on our trip we stayed overnight at Cedars Wharf at Coolongolook. It was a cute little spot next to the river and perfect for one night. The mozzies came out while we were eating dinner, so once that was over and everything cleaned up, it was inside the van for the night watching a movie!
Next adventure is Port Macquarie late November for orientation day at the kids distance education school for next year; North East Public School of Distance Education.
